Sibas is close to Kamilari and a number of good restaurants are located on the village square. Well worth the visit.
Also nearby are Pitsidia (very nice), Matala (the famous hippie village) and Kouses (with a fantastic spice shop and beautiful view).
On Saturdays you can visit the market in Mires where many local products are sold. Taste the real Cretan atmosphere there.
Spili is also recommended. In this mountain village you drink water from the mountains in your glass. The drive there is beautiful!
And what about Lentas: also a beautiful ride and cozy restaurants.
There are also nice car trips to Zaros, a village in the mountains, where you can also make beautiful walks.
Of course you can also easily reach Chania, Rethymno and Heraklion from Kamilari. The roads on Crete are good and you can enjoy the rugged landscape, quiet beaches, beautiful views and delicious food along the way.
